H. 3743

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

WELCOMING THE NATIONAL JURISDICTION OF BLACK METHODISTS FOR CHURCH RENEWAL, INC., (BMCR) TO THE 38TH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE GROUP, HOSTED THIS YEAR BY THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA CHAPTER IN MYRTLE BEACH.

Whereas, the National Jurisdiction of Black Methodists for Church Renewal, Inc. (BMCR) gathers March 16-19, 2005, in Myrtle Beach for its 38th Annual Meeting; and

Whereas, hundreds of members from across the country are meeting with their focus on "If You Build It, They Will Come": Building Effective Worship; and

Whereas, this powerful agenda is led by BMCR Executive Director Bishop Melvin G. Talbert, and hosted by the South Carolina Chapter and its President, Rachel W. Sistrunk of Orangeburg; and

Whereas, the three-day schedule calls for jurisdictional meetings, resource exhibits, praise and prayer, and exciting opportunities for learning about ways to enhance the worship experience; and

Whereas, the BMCR members are sure to leave our beautiful state with new methods for meeting their purpose of empowering Black Methodists for effective witness and service within the church, the community, and the world; and

Whereas, the State of South Carolina is proud to be a part of this group's noble cause. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly welcome the National Jurisdiction of Black Methodists for Church Renewal, Inc., (BMCR) to the 38th Annual Meeting of the group, hosted this year by the State of South Carolina Chapter in Myrtle Beach.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Executive Director, Bishop Melvin G. Talbert.
