H*4715 Resolution, By R. Smith, Clyburn, Mason and Sharpe
A House Resolution to congratulate the county of Aiken and its citizens upon
the occasion of the one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of the county's
 founding on March 10, 1996.

03/07/96 House Introduced and adopted HJ-6

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE COUNTY OF AIKEN AND ITS CITIZENS UPON THE OCCASION OF THE ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE COUNTY'S FOUNDING ON MARCH 10, 1996.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, with great pride, join with the citizens of Aiken County in celebrating the one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of the county's founding on March 10, 1996; and

Whereas, Aiken County was created by an Act of the General Assembly on March 10, 1871, which was signed by then Governor Robert K. Scott; and

Whereas, Aiken County is the now the third largest county in the State by area and has given to South Carolina throughout its existence people of integrity, honor, and ability who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of our State; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize this milestone in Aiken County history and by this resolution express their appreciation to the people of the county for the contributions they have made, each in their generation, to the county, the State, and the United States. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate the County of Aiken and its citizens on the occasion of the one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of the county's founding on March 10, 1996.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Shirley G. Holgate of the Aiken County Quasquicentennial Committee.
