A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING LARRY D. SHIRLEY OF CHARLESTON ON RECEIVING THE CARROLL H. JONES AWARD FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE ASSOCIATION OF LIFE UNDERWRITERS, INC., IN RECOGNITION OF MR. SHIRLEY'S HIGH STANDARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A LIFE UNDERWRITER.

Whereas, Larry D. Shirley of Charleston has received the Carroll H. Jones Award from the South Carolina State Association of Life Underwriters, Inc.; and

Whereas, the purpose of the award is to honor the life underwriter in the State who has made in the past, and is currently making, the most outstanding contribution to the insurance business and who has devoted his or her full time to the marketing of life insurance on a career basis through the framework of the agency system; the award is given for high ethical standards in personal conduct in the life insurance business, involvement in civic and public affairs, and exemplary service to fellow colleagues in the life insurance business; the presentation of this award is the highlight of the annual convention of the South Carolina State Association of Life Underwriters, Inc.; and

Whereas, Larry Shirley has twenty-five years of experience in management, marketing, and sales in the life underwriting business; he has served on Charleston City Council for seven years; he is Chairman of the Recreation Commission of the City of Charleston; he is a member of the Human Resource Committee for the City of Charleston; he is Past President of the South Carolina Association of Life Underwriters; he was Top Sales Achiever in 1992, 1993, and 1994 for Central Reserve Life Insurance; he was Top General Agent in 1991 for Central Reserve Life Insurance; and he has devoted his time, talent, and energy to many other worthwhile causes and has received numerous other awards and citations for his professional excellence; and

Whereas, we are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such an outstanding individual on the occasion of his receiving the prestigious Carroll H. Jones Award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Larry D. Shirley of Charleston on receiving the Carroll H. Jones Award from the South Carolina State Association of Life Underwriters, Inc., in recognition of Mr. Shirley's high standards and accomplishments as a life underwriter.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Shirley at 2705 Cordwainer Court, Charleston, 29414.
