A Concurrent Resolution expressing the sorrow of the members of the General
Assembly at the death of Dr. Milledge Broadus Seigler, retired English
professor at the University of South Carolina, and extending sympathy to his
family and many friends.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF DR. MILLEDGE
BROADUS SEIGLER, RETIRED ENGLISH PROFESSOR AT THE
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND EXTENDING
SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Dr. Milledge Broadus Seigler died in 1990 at the age of
eighty; and
Whereas, he was born in Aiken County, graduated from Furman
University, and received his masters and doctorate degrees in southern
literature and the Renaissance from Duke University; and
Whereas, he was a Fulbright professor at the University of Mainz,
Germany, and taught at Winthrop College, Catawba College, Duke
University, and the National War College; and
Whereas, he was a retired naval captain and World War II and Korean
Conflict veteran and was also a retired English professor emeritus from
the University of South Carolina ; and
Whereas, he was an outstanding and distinguished individual who was
respected and admired by all who knew him; and
Whereas, we want the members of his family and his many friends to
know that they have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Dr. Milledge
Broadus Seigler and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr.
Seigler's family, in care of his widow, Mrs. Milledge B. Seigler, 954
Beltline Boulevard, Columbia, South Carolina, 29205.
