EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF PERCY B. HARVIN OF CLARENDON COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, Percy B. Harvin was born June 8, 1920 in Summerton; he was the son of the late Dr. Percy Bethune Harvin, Sr., and Susan Jones Harvin; he was a beloved and respected businessman, farmer, and agri-business leader and a pioneer resort owner and operator on Lake Marion, whose early leadership helped make this major industry a significant part of the Clarendon County economy that it is today; he was a member of Summerton United Methodist Church and a member of Summerton American Legion Post No. 35; he was a World War II United States Army veteran; he was a beloved and respected community leader, and he had thousands upon thousands of friends from a cross-section of South Carolina; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him for his warm heart and generous nature and counted upon his wisdom and sage advice on a daily basis. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of Percy B. Harvin of Clarendon County and extends sympathy to his family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Harvin's son, the Honorable Percy B. Harvin, Jr., Chairman, Clarendon County Board of Education; Judge and Mrs. E.A. Failmezger of Summerton; his brothers, Thomas Harvey Harvin and Ben Skinner Harvin, both of Greenwood, and Robert Jones Harvin of Garden City; his sisters, Emily H. Hite of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Mary H. Casteen of South Bend, Indiana; and his four grandchildren.
