 A SENATE RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE CONRAD HARTZOG OF NORTH AUGUSTA UPON BEING
 NAMED THE CITIZEN OF THE YEAR BY THE NORTH AUGUSTA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE CONRAD HARTZOG OF NORTH AUGUSTA UPON BEING NAMED THE CITIZEN OF THE YEAR BY THE NORTH AUGUSTA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

Whereas, Mr. Conrad "Connie" Hartzog has been recognized as the Citizen of the Year by the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce; and

Whereas, he was born in Clayton, Alabama, and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute with a degree in business administration, coming to North Augusta in 1950 as a personnel manager; and

Whereas, Mr. Hartzog is known for his "untiring devotion and extraordinary contributions" to the city of North Augusta which is evident by his leadership on numerous boards and his countless activities with community organizations, among them the Shepeard Blood Center, United Way, and the American Cancer Society; and

Whereas, his commitment to public service may only be exceeded by his unfailing devotion to his family having been widowed in the 1950's, Mr. Hartzog as a proud, loving single parent to his three children, has nurtured, guided, and provided for them as both mother and father throughout their lives; and

Whereas, woven throughout his devotion to his family and his service to the community is his commitment to advocacy for the physically challenged which has been very effective and has greatly advanced the cause and improved the lives of many persons with disabilities in South Carolina; and

Whereas, among his numerous roles in community service Mr. Hartzog served for twelve years on the Hitchcock Rehabilitation Board and was co-founder of the Kalmia Hill Special Education Center; he served the Aiken County Vocational Rehabilitation Center and South Carolina Advocates for the Handicapped and was recognized for his service to Aiken Barnwell Mental Health with the North Augusta branch being named in his honor; and

Whereas, Mr. Hartzog is a deeply religious man and a faithful and dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church where he has taught Sunday school for many years; and

Whereas, the Senate is glad to have this opportunity to recognize an outstanding South Carolinian who, with great modesty and quiet resolve, never seeking the limelight, has made extraordinary contributions to the community of North Augusta and to the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That, by this resolution, the members of the Senate of South Carolina congratulate Conrad Hartzog of North Augusta, upon being named the Citizen of the Year by the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Conrad Hartzog.
