H. 4264

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE ANDREW JACKSON ACADEMY LADY CONFEDERATES SOFTBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO COMMEND THE HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION OF THE PLAYERS, COACHES, STAFF, AND OTHER SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR THEIR 2003 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN.

Whereas, the Lady Confederates ended the season with an outstanding record of twenty-one wins and seven losses. Runners-up five out of the past six seasons, the Lady Confederates were able to defeat W.W. King Academy two out of three games to win the elusive State Championship; and

Whereas, Leslie Chavis led the Andrew Jackson Softball Team to victory with her superb pitching. She pitched six games over the two days of the tournament, walked only two players, and allowed only one hit in the final; and

Whereas, under the exceptional leadership of Head Coach, William Hiers, and his Assistant Coaches, Jimmy Still and Johnny Chavis, the Lady Confederates were able to win the State Championship; and

Whereas, the members of the remarkable 2003 Lady Confederates Softball Team included: Brandi Rentz, Leslie Chavis, Cassie Walling, Annie Boswell, Pam Still, Faren Meyers, Kendra Broughton, Lori Varnadoe, Candace Still, Natalie Gordon, Erika Bessinger, Kristen Mixon, McKenzie Dobbins, and Brittany Phaff; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to honor the Andrew Jackson Academy Softball Team for winning the 2003 Class A State Championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Andrew Jackson Academy Lady Confederates Softball Team on winning the South Carolina Independent Schools Association Class A State Championship Title and commend the hard work and determination of the players, coaches, staff, and other school officials for their 2003 Class A State Championship win.
