 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE DR. ARTHUR MITCHELL FOR HIS THIRTY YEARS OF
 SERVICE AS A PROFESSOR OF HISTORY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA
 SALKEHATCHIE CAMPUS AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS UPON
 HIS RETIREMENT.

TO RECOGNIZE DR. ARTHUR MITCHELL FOR HIS THIRTY YEARS OF SERVICE AS A PROFESSOR OF HISTORY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA SALKEHATCHIE CAMPUS AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Dr. Arthur Mitchell has taught history at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie campus since the spring of 1976; and

Whereas, he holds an Arts Bachelor degree from Boston College in history, his Doctorate in Philosophy in history from the University of Dublin, and is a full professor at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie campus; and

Whereas, Dr. Mitchell is the author of numerous published scholarly books and articles on subjects that include the Irish in America, the Kennedy family, and Adolf Hitler; and

Whereas, he has served as advisor to the university's history club, and currently is completing a complete history of the campus as part of its fortieth anniversary celebration; and

Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the House of Representatives that Dr. Mitchell will be retiring as a professor of history from the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie at the end of the 2006 spring semester with thirty years of service to that campus and the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations to recognize his contributions to the field of higher education. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize Dr. Arthur Mitchell for his thirty years of service as a professor of history at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie campus and wish him well in all of his future endeavors upon his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Arthur Mitchell.
