 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE THE RICHARD WINN ACADEMY EAGLES BASEBALL
 TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
 ASSOCIATION CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS,
 ASSISTANT COACHES, AND HEAD COACH BEN PORTER ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.

TO CONGRATULATE THE RICHARD WINN ACADEMY EAGLES BASEBALL TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS, ASSISTANT COACHES, AND HEAD COACH BEN PORTER ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.

Whereas, the Richard Winn Academy Eagles baseball team capped its 22-3 season by capturing the 2007 South Carolina Independent School Class AA State Championship title, soundly defeating a fine Dorchester Academy Raiders team 12-2 in the best out of three, held in Winnsboro; and

Whereas, exhibiting a combination of speed, hitting ability, pitching, and teamwork, the Eagles achieved this sweet victory; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of Head Coach Ben Porter and Assistant Coaches Jeff Wade and Billy Ladd, the Eagles brought deserved accolades not only upon themselves but also upon the Winnsboro community and Fairfield County; and

Whereas, while all of the players deserve tremendous praise for their successful season, four top players received special recognition by being selected to play in the South Carolina Independent School Association North-South All-Star Team. Thomas Garner, William Ladd, Matt McLaughlin, and Martin Caulder gave superior performances infield and outfield this season; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pleasure in recognizing the noteworthy achievements of such outstanding young men as those on the Richard Winn Academy Eagles baseball team. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Richard Winn Academy Eagles baseball team on its impressive win of the 2007 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AA State Championship title and honor the players, assistant coaches, and Head Coach Ben Porter on an outstanding season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Ben Porter.
