 REMARKABLE WORK AS A TEACHER AND ADMINISTRATOR AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON
 BEING NAMED THE NATIONALNext ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR FOR 2002.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND DR. DAVID BOMAR OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY FOR HIS REMARKABLE WORK AS A TEACHER AND ADMINISTRATOR AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON BEING NAMED THE PreviousNATIONALNext ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR FOR 2002.

Whereas, Dr. David Bomar, assistant principal at Cowpens Middle School, has been named the PreviousNationalNext Assistant Principal of the Year by the PreviousNationalNext Association of Secondary School Principals and McDonald's; and

Whereas, Dr. Bomar, after winning the award at the state level, competed for the PreviousnationalNext honor against candidates from other schools across the United States; and

Whereas, the PreviousNationalNext Assistant Principal of the Year Award recognizes educators for their ability and success in four areas: leadership, resolving complex problems, developing self and others, and community service; and

Whereas, David Bomar has dedicated his life and career to excellence in teaching and learning at all levels, and his credentials for this award are truly outstanding; and

Whereas, Dr. David Bomar has taught in five of Spartanburg County's seven school districts, joining the English department at Broome High School in District Three in August of 1993; he later worked as an assistant principal there before transferring to Cowpens Middle School in 2000; and

Whereas, David Bomar is an honor graduate of Limestone College, earned a Masters in English from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Dr. Bomar has teaching experience at every academic level including elementary, middle, and high school; he has also been an instructor at Spartanburg Technical College, Spartanburg Methodist College, Voorhees College, Clemson University, and the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Dr. Bomar has served on a number of state and local committees related to teaching and learning issues; he has served as a state judge for literary magazine and writing award competitions, and was named Spartanburg County District Five's "Teacher of the Year" for the 1989-90 school year; and

Whereas, with education being one of our state's top priorities, South Carolina is truly fortunate to have Dr. David Bomar working with our students and teachers to create a learning environment that encourages excellence and promotes the importance of getting a quality education. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Dr. David Bomar for his remarkable work as a teacher and administrator and congratulate him on being named the PreviousNational Assistant Principal of the Year for 2002.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. David Bomar of Spartanburg County.
