 SEVEN AIR TRAFFIC FACILITY OF THE YEAR AWARDS FOR 2001.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEES OF THE COLUMBIA METROPOLITAN AIRPORT AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO AVIATION SAFETY, MAINTAINED AWARENESS, AND CONSTANT DESIRE TO PROVIDE THE VERY BEST IN SERVICE TO THE FLYING PUBLIC, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE COLUMBIA AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION TO RECEIVE BOTH THE SOUTHERN REGIONAL AND THE PreviousNATIONALNext LEVEL SEVEN AIR TRAFFIC FACILITY OF THE YEAR AWARDS FOR 2001.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were delighted to learn of the resounding success of the management and employees of Columbia Metropolitan Airport Air Traffic Control Tower on the occasion of the Columbia Air Traffic Control Tower being selected by the Federal Aviation Administration to receive both the Southern Regional Level Seven Air Traffic Facility of the Year Award and the coveted PreviousNationalNext Air Traffic Facility of the Year Award for 2001; and

Whereas, PreviousnationalNext and regional Air Traffic Facility of the Year Awards are presented annually by the Federal Aviation Administration to the very best airport traffic control towers and terminal radar approach control facilities within the air traffic control system across the PreviousnationNext; and

Whereas, Federal Aviation Administration PreviousnationalNext and regional Air Traffic Facility of the Year Awards are highly competitive and made on the basis of overall facility efficiency after a thorough evaluation of the critical elements of each facility's operational efficiency, communications, employee development, external relations, resource management, human relations, professionalism, employee morale, and other significant factors; and

Whereas, the Federal Aviation Administration considers all facilities equally within each category for awards regardless of their air traffic control grade and any condition or circumstance beyond a facility's control and, having won the level seven Air Traffic Facility of the Year Award for the southern region for 2001, the men and women of the Columbia Air Traffic Control Tower, management and employees alike, are a genuine source of pride to all South Carolinians and deserve high commendation for their recurring exemplary service to the Federal Aviation Administration and the traveling public; and

Whereas, the coveted PreviousNationalNext Air Traffic Facility of the Year Award recognizes the highest degree of efficiency and dedication of facility personnel in executing their daily responsibilities of expeditious air traffic movement, preservation of life and property, and public service. It is, indeed, a high and much deserved tribute to the operational and communications skills, professionalism, and morale of the men and women of the Columbia Air Traffic Control tower that their facility was selected by the Federal Aviation Administration to receive the PreviousNationalNext Air Traffic Facility of the Year Award for 2001. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend the management and employees of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport Air Traffic Control Tower for their dedication to aviation safety, maintained awareness, and constant desire to provide the very best in service to the flying public, and to congratulate the Columbia Air Traffic Control Tower for being selected to receive both the southern regional and Previousnational level seven Air Traffic Facility of the Year Award for 2001.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Columbia Air Traffic Control Tower at Columbia Metropolitan Airport, West Columbia.
