A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE BLYTHEWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL, OF RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, FOR BEING NAMED A "SCHOOL TO WATCH" BY THE PreviousNATIONALNext FORUM TO ACCELERATE MIDDLE-GRADES REFORM.

Whereas, Blythewood Middle School has been named a "School to Watch" by the PreviousNationalNext Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform, which honors high-performing middle schools; and

Whereas, the PreviousNationalNext Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform conferred this honor upon Blythewood Middle School because it challenges students, shows sensitivity to the developmental changes of early adolescence, and provides quality teachers; and

Whereas, this Richland County school's dedicated faculty, administration, and staff are to be commended for their united strong support of student achievement, desire to continually improve, and recognition of their responsibility to nurture children of good character; and

Whereas, an alliance of more than sixty educators, researchers, and officers of PreviousnationalNext associations and foundations, the PreviousNationalNext Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform is committed to improving education in the middle grades; and

Whereas, founded in 1999 as a program to identify middle-grade schools across the country that are meeting or exceeding a set of strict criteria for excellence, the PreviousNationalNext Forum's Schools to Watch program currently includes fourteen states in its membership; and

Whereas, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in recognizing the students, faculty, administration, and staff of such an exemplary middle school as Blythewood and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize Blythewood Middle School, of Richland School District Two, for being named a "School to Watch" by the PreviousNational Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Blythewood Middle School.
