A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING BEVERLY D. BRANDES OF LEXINGTON
COUNTY ON HER ELECTION AS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARK
ASSOCIATION.
Whereas, Beverly D. Brandes of Lexington County has been associated
with recreation for the past eighteen years; and
Whereas, Ms. Brandes has served on the Irmo-Chapin Recreation
Commission and, for thirteen years, served as a member of the South
Carolina Recreation and Park Association, including its executive board
and service as citizen branch president; and
Whereas, she has contributed to the work of the Southern Regional
Council of the National Recreation and Park Association, where she has
served for twelve years and was recently reelected to another three-year
term; and
Whereas, she has been a member of the National Recreation and Park
Association Board of Trustees, where she has served for nine years
representing ten southern states on the board; and
Whereas, she is strongly committed to recreation and parks and views
her work as a great opportunity to make a difference in people's lives all
across the nation; and
Whereas, her dedication, energy, and outstanding hard work have not
gone unnoticed by her peers who recently recognized her excellent
efforts by electing her chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National
Recreation and Park Association -- a very high honor which is greatly
deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, congratulates Beverly D. Brandes of Lexington County on
her election as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National
Recreation and Park Association.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms.
Brandes.
