A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "GREEN WAVE" WRESTLING TEAM ON CAPTURING THE CLASS AAAA 2000-2001 STATE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, after three months of hard fought victories, the Summerville "Green Wave" Wrestling Team overcame its last obstacle, Dutch Fork, with a 33-18 win for the Class AAAA 2000-2001 State Wrestling Championship; and
Whereas, this victory capped an undefeated 23-0 season for this outstanding high school team; and
Whereas, to finish with this phenomenal record, Summerville had to wrestle the three toughest teams -- Irmo, Spring Valley, and Dutch Fork; and
Whereas, by maintaining a strong performance from their first three weight classes, Summerville ensured a victorious conclusion to its season; and
Whereas, also putting Summerville in the driver's seat at the tournament was the fact that four "Green Wave" wrestlers went undefeated for the tournament; and
Whereas, on their way to capturing the State Wrestling Championship Summerville won three tournaments, including the Battery Creek Duals; and
Whereas, the lessons the wrestlers on this team have learned will serve them well as they tackle the tough obstacles life poses, much like obstacles they faced all season in route to their triumphant victory. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Summerville High School "Green Wave" Wrestling Team on capturing the Class AAAA 2000-2001 State Wrestling Championship.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Kenny Walker and the team.
