 SCHOOL FOR HER COMMITMENT TO SPREADING THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
 AND TO CONGRATULATE HER ON BEING THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2001 NATIONAL JUMP ROPE
 FOR HEART OUTSTANDING COORDINATOR AWARD.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MRS. ADELAIDE V. CARPENTER OF RAVENEL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR HER COMMITMENT TO SPREADING THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND TO CONGRATULATE HER ON BEING THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2001 NATIONAL JUMP ROPE FOR HEART OUTSTANDING COORDINATOR AWARD.

Whereas, Mrs. Adelaide V. Carpenter was awarded the 2001 National Jump Rope for Heart Outstanding Coordinator Award on March 30, 2001, as presented by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carpenter has taught elementary physical education at Ravenel Elementary School in Seneca, South Carolina for twenty-seven years after having earned a bachelor of science degree from Appalachian State University and her masters degree from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mrs. Adelaide Carpenter is the loving wife of Warren and devoted mother of her two daughters, Hayley and Aubrey; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carpenter is an excellent teacher and dedicated professional who has earned the respect and admiration of her principal, colleagues, students, and the parents; throughout the district she has earned the reputation for having developed an exemplary physical education program that motivates students to put forth their best effort throughout the day; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carpenter has been a Jump Rope for Heart Demonstration Team Coach for the last ten years and a Jump Rope for Heart coordinator for thirteen years, and her jump rope team, the Ropesters, has performed over one hundred times in the last twelve years, performing at state conventions and at a national American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance convention; over the past fourteen years the Ravenel students, through the Jump Rope for Heart program, have raised over eighty thousand dollars for the American Heart Association and, although participation of students in this project is voluntary, about ninety-seven percent of the student body participates; and

Whereas, Mrs. Carpenter continues to be a strong advocate for her profession while taking on new challenges in physical education; she is currently on the South Carolina Physical Education Assessment Program Advisory Committee, and was the South Carolina South Carolina Association of Physical Education and Sports Teacher of the Year, and the southern district AAHPERD Teacher of the Year in 1998; through her work she has demonstrated a commitment to improving the physical education of the countless children whose lives she has touched. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Mrs. Adelaide V. Carpenter of Ravenel Elementary School for her commitment to spreading the importance of physical education and congratulate her on being the recipient of the 2001 National Jump Rope for Heart Outstanding Coordinator Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Adelaide V. Carpenter of Ravenel Elementary School.
