 Senate to the family and many admirers of Mrs. Margaret J. Weston of Aiken who
 died Monday, November 11, 1991.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY ADMIRERS OF MRS. MARGARET J. WESTON OF AIKEN WHO DIED MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1991.

Whereas, Mrs. Margaret J. Weston of Aiken died Monday, November 11, 1991; and

Whereas, Mrs. Weston was the founder of the Margaret J. Weston Health Center which works with satellite centers to serve more than four hundred medical and dental patients a week; and

Whereas, as a nurse, Mrs. Weston put in long hours along with a group of volunteer doctors providing medical services and education to women who could not or would not seek help elsewhere. This care was provided out of a van traveling all over Aiken and Edgefield counties. Expansion of services required the van to be traded for office space where Mrs. Weston and her group of workers and volunteers stayed for over ten years; and

Whereas, from this beginning rose the Margaret J. Weston Health Center, founded in 1971 and directed by Mrs. Weston; and

Whereas, a graduate of Homer G. Phillips School of Nursing, St. Louis, Mrs. Weston received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Loyola University, Chicago, and her master of science in nursing from the University of Chicago; and

Whereas, she was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board and was president of the Red Rose Auxiliary. She was a member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., Aiken Chapter of Links, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Stoney Medical Dental Pharmaceutical Society, and the American Nurses Association; and

Whereas, surviving are her widower, Dr. Paul Weston, and a sister, Joy J. McDuffie, Laurinburg, North Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express deepest sympathy to the family and many admirers of Mrs. Margaret J. Weston of Aiken who died Monday, November 11, 1991.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Weston..
