A Concurrent Resolution expressing the congratulations of the members of the
General Assembly to the Reverend Walter E. Davis of Greenville County for
twenty-five years of dedicated service as the spiritual leader of Antioch
Baptist Church and extending to him best wishes for many more years of service
to his congregation and the Greenville community.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE REVEREND WALTER E.
DAVIS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR TWENTY-FIVE YEARS
OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS THE SPIRITUAL LEADER OF
ANTIOCH BAPTIST CHURCH AND EXTENDING TO HIM BEST
WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIS
CONGREGATION AND THE GREENVILLE COMMUNITY.
Whereas, the Reverend Walter E. Davis, pastor of the Antioch Baptist
Church in Greenville, is this year marking twenty-five years as the
spiritual leader of the congregation; and
Whereas, the Reverend Walter E. Davis was born in Greenville, South
Carolina, and attended Sullivan Elementary, Sterling High School,
Greenville Technical College, Morris College, and Morris College
School of Religion, Sumter, South Carolina; and
Whereas, he is a popular and dynamic Baptist minister, having recently
led the church family in the construction of a beautiful new sanctuary,
and serves as moderator of the Reedy River Baptist Association,
consisting of more than thirty churches; and
Whereas, his life has been a boon to the greater Greenville community,
working diligently in the cause of voter registration and leading housing
efforts that have resulted in thirty-four low-income families achieving
the great dream of home ownership; and
Whereas, his talents have been put to further use through his service on
the Mayor's Housing Task Force, the Greenville Planning Commission,
and as a member appointed by Governor Richard W. Riley to the Joint
Legislative Committee to Study the Problems of Alcohol and Drug
Abuse; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to
pause in their deliberations so that they may recognize the
accomplishments of this distinguished son of South Carolina and
through this recognition to establish him as an exemplar of devotion to
God and his fellow man to be emulated by those who give themselves
to the service of their fellows. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express
congratulations to the Reverend Walter E. Davis of Greenville County
for twenty-five years of dedicated service as the spiritual leader of
Antioch Baptist Church and extend to him best wishes for many more
years of service to his congregation and the Greenville Community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to The
Reverend Walter E. Davis.
