AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 53-1-100, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, WHICH
AUTHORIZES MACHINE SHOPS TO OPERATE ON SUNDAY, SO AS TO INCLUDE RUBBER
MOLDING AND PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING FACILITIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Machine shops and rubber plastic injection molding facilities may operate on Sunday
Section 1. Section 53-1-100 of the 1976 Code is amended by inserting "shops" and
"shall" on line two " and rubber molding and plastic injection molding facilities". The
section when amended shall read:
"Section 53-1-100. Notwithstanding any other provision of law the operation of machine shops and rubber
molding and plastic injection molding facilities shall be exempt from the provisions of this chapter. No person
shall be required to work on Sunday who is conscientiously opposed to Sunday work. If any person refuses to
work on Sunday because of conscientious or physical objections, he shall not jeopardize his seniority right by
such refusal or be discriminated against in any manner. Sunday work shall be compensated at a rate no less than
that required by the Fair Labor Standards Act."
Time effective
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor. |
