A BILL
TO AUTHORIZE SHOPPING CENTERS AND BUSINESS OR
COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS WHICH PROVIDE
HANDICAPPED-ONLY PARKING SPACES ON PRIVATE
PROPERTY TO ISSUE UNIFORM CITATIONS FOR VIOLATIONS
OF THE USE OF SUCH PARKING SPACES, IN ACCORDANCE
WITH REGULATIONS PROMULGATED BY THE DEPARTMENT
OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Shopping centers and business or commercial
establishments which provide handicapped-only parking spaces on
private property are authorized to issue uniform citations for violations
of the prescribed use of such parking spaces, in accordance with
regulations which must be promulgated by the Department of Highways
and Public Transportation giving force and effect to the provisions of
this section.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect one hundred twenty days after
approval by the Governor.
