H. 4131

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE RETRO ACTIVE OF MYRTLE BEACH UPON THE CELEBRATION OF ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO CONGRATULATE THE BUSINESS ON ITS FIRST DECADE OF SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURIAL ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Retro Active, Myrtle Beach's go-to shopNext for nostalgic, decade-specific, hard-to-find items of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, turns ten years old in 2015; and

Whereas, more than ten years ago, Virginians Amy Leonard and Amy Harriman discovered they had a common passion for pop-culture items from the 1980s. A trip to Myrtle Beach for a concert convinced them the Grand Strand was the place to be, so they moved to Myrtle Beach and eventually dreamed up the ideal job for their new location: owning their own PreviousshopNext that specializes in the retro items they love; and

Whereas, today, Retro Active, located at Broadway at the Beach, offers a unique variety of pop-culture items catering to the original Yuppies, Valley Girls, Hair-Band Enthusiasts, Boy-Band-Obsessing, Brat-Pack-Loving fans of the 1980s and its peripheral years. When they visit, customers look for items such as that old 1980s denim jacket with the one hundred fifty buttons on it; great vintage concert T-shirts; and memorabilia from old movies, music, TV shows, and brand names; and

Whereas, both brick-and-mortar and online Retro Active customers are enthusiastic in their praise of the PreviousshopNext's wares. Typical comments: "Awesome place that brings back a lot of great memories!" "The best Previousshop in Myrtle Beach." "Retro Active is my first stop when visiting Broadway at the Beach! The selection of all things retro is amazing." "These folks have one of the best selections of music and retro tees and the accessories that go with them. They have retro candy, hats, soft drinks, posters, etc. A very unique store, and I found the staff very helpful."; and

Whereas, appreciative of its contributions to the prosperity of the Palmetto State, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in honoring Retro Active and its visionary owners, Amy Leonard and Amy Harriman, on the occasion of the company's tenth anniversary. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize Retro Active of Myrtle Beach upon the celebration of its tenth anniversary and congratulate the business on its first decade of successful entrepreneurial endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Amy Leonard and Amy Harriman of Retro Active.
