A Bill to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Chapter 79
to Title 15 so as to provide a civil remedy for persons injured as victims of
shoplifting, provide exceptions, awarding of damages, and attorney's fees,
provide estoppel of a defendant under certain conditions, provide for
admissibility of a not guilty verdict, provide for a limitation on a cause of
action, provide that the remedy under this Chapter is cumulative, require
attorney's fees awarded under this Chapter be taxed as costs, and provide
exemptions.
