A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE SYMPATHY OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE S. WYMAN BOOZER.

Whereas, S. Wyman Boozer, who died on Friday, January 31, 1997, was born in Chapin, the son of the late Samuel Wesley and Bessie Inez Lowman Boozer; and

Whereas, he was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church and owner of Wyman Boozer Realty; and

Whereas, he had the pioneering foresight to buy and develop a shopping center, Lake Murray tracts, and rural properties of the St. Andrews community of Richland and Lexington counties, helping build one of the fastest-growing communities in America; and

Mr. Boozer was a member of many different organizations including: The Homebuilders Association Gold Hammer, Homebuilders Land Development Council, Columbia Sales and Marketing Executives Association, the Institute of Management Accountants Columbia Chapter, South Carolina Business and Industrial Education Committee, Columbia, St. Andrews, Irmo, and Lexington Chambers of Commerce; and

Whereas, he was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a member of the USC Alumni Association-Class of '39; University Associates, Indian Waters Council Boy Scouts of America Development Committee, Sertoma Club of St. Andrews/Irmo, lifetime member of Wildlife Action, sponsor of Ducks and Quail Unlimited, and a sponsor of the Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, South Carolina Wildlife Federation, sponsor member of Riverbanks Zoo Society, an active member for more than thirty years of The Gamecock Club, Silver Spur Donor, National Republican Committee, South Carolina Republican Party Silver Elephant, and the South Carolina Sheriff's Association; and

Whereas, S. Wyman Boozer is survived by his wife, Agnes Koon Boozer of Columbia; his daughters, Sylvia B. Brannon of Columbia, Barbara B. Mann of Jenkinsville, Gloria B. Baker of Columbia; his sons, Ronald F. Boozer of Chapin, Stanford Wyman "Buddy" Boozer, Jr., of Yemassee; thirteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might honor the memory of so distinguished a son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate, by this resolution, extends sympathy to the family and many friends of the late S. Wyman Boozer.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Agnes Koon Boozer, and to each of his children.
