ENTIRE DAY WITH REPRESENTATIVE GEORGE H. BAILEY AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE FLAT STANLEY FOR VISITING THE SOUTH
CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON TUESDAY,
FEBRUARY 25, 1997, AND FOR SPENDING THE ENTIRE DAY
WITH REPRESENTATIVE GEORGE H. BAILEY AND OTHER
MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
Whereas, Flat Stanley is a fictional boy in a story by Jeff Brown
relating to a boy who gets flattened by his bulletin board when it falls
on him during the night; and
Whereas, earlier this week, a facsimile of Flat Stanley started the day
at 6:00 a.m. responding to a fire at a local plant in Harleyville. At
9:00 a.m. Flat Stanley was introduced at the Dorchester County
Centennial Celebration-Cachet Dedication in Dorchester; and
Whereas, Flat Stanley was introduced to the South Carolina House
of Representatives, and to the South Carolina Senate, and then later
attended a full Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee meeting in
Columbia; and
Whereas, Flat Stanley was introduced at the Dorchester County
Council meeting in St. George, South Carolina, where Representative
Bailey presented a concurrent resolution commending Dorchester
County on its one hundred year anniversary. After this Flat Stanley
traveled back to Columbia to attend the 40th birthday party of
Governor David M. Beasley where he was given a new
Harley-Davidson motorcycle and black leather jacket. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby recognize Flat
Stanley for visiting the South Carolina General Assembly on
Tuesday, February 25, 1997, and for spending the entire day with
Representative George H. Bailey and other members of the General
Assembly.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Master David Hugh Vaimberg.
