AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1090 OF 1972, AS AMENDED,
RELATING TO BAMBERG-EHRHARDT SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE
AND DENMARK-OLAR SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, SO AS TO
PROVIDE THAT MEMBERS OF BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF
THESE DISTRICTS SHALL RECEIVE COMPENSATION OF ONE
THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH CALENDAR
YEAR.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina:
Annual compensation
SECTION 1. Section 3 of Act 1090 of 1972, as last amended by Act
581 of 1992, is further amended to read:
"Section 3. (A) The Board of Trustees of Bamberg-Ehrhardt
School District One and Denmark-Olar School District Two each must be
composed of five members, to be elected from each of five defined
single-member districts in a nonpartisan election to be conducted the
same time as the 1992 general election for terms of four years and until
their successors are appointed and qualify. The terms of the trustees
begin January 1, 1993. Each trustee must be a resident of the district the
trustee represents. Of the trustees first elected, the two candidates with
the highest number of votes shall serve for terms of four years, and the
three candidates with the lowest number of votes shall serve for terms of
two years. Their successors must be elected in a nonpartisan election to
be conducted on the second Tuesday in April and every two years after
that time for those trustees whose terms expire, for terms of four years
each. All vacancies must be filled in the manner of the original
appointment for the unexpired portion of the term only. Members of the
current boards of trustees for each school district shall serve until their
successors are elected and qualify. The elections must be conducted by
the Bamberg County Election Commission, at the district's expense.
(B) The members of the boards of trustees of both Bamberg-Ehrhardt
School District One and Denmark-Olar School District Two shall receive
annual compensation of one thousand two hundred dollars for their
service on these respective boards during a particular calendar
year."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
