A JOINT RESOLUTION
TO PROVIDE FOR THE WAIVER OF ONE DAY THAT SCHOOLS IN PICKENS COUNTY CLOSED IN FEBRUARY 2015 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER FROM THE STATUTORY REQUIREMENT THAT SCHOOL DAYS MISSED DUE TO SNOW, EXTREME WEATHER, OR OTHER DISRUPTIONS BE MADE UP, AND TO PROVIDE THAT THIS REQUIREMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO TIME MISSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER FROM THESE STORMS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. (A) One day that public schools, private schools, or home schools in Pickens County closed in February 2015 due to inclement weather may be exempted from the requirement that full school days missed due to snow, extreme weather, or other disruptions be made up. This exemption only may be made for a:
(1) public school in Pickens County by the board of trustees of the district of that school;
(2) private school in the district by the headmaster or board of trustees of the school; and
(3) home school in the district at the discretion of a parent-teacher in the home school.
(B) The provisions of this section apply notwithstanding the provisions of Section 59-1-425 or another provision of law requiring school time missed by students due to school closure caused by snow, inclement weather conditions, or other disruptions.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
