GLENN OF RICHLAND COUNTY UPON CELEBRATING THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY,
AND TO EXTEND TO THEM BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF HAPPINESS TOGETHER.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MARY ELIZABETH MARTIN GLENN,
AND BEN HOYT GLENN OF RICHLAND COUNTY UPON
CELEBRATING THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY,
AND TO EXTEND TO THEM BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE
YEARS OF HAPPINESS TOGETHER.
Whereas, Mary Elizabeth Martin Glenn and Ben Hoyt Glenn were
married on September 28, 1947, by the Reverend M. C. Jackson, at
the Jackson Creek Baptist Church Parsonage, Columbia, South
Carolina; and
Whereas, Mary Elizabeth Martin Glenn is retired from the South
Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation, a
member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member
of Spring Valley Baptist Church, where she is also employed as a
teacher's aide at the church's preschool; and
Whereas, Ben Hoyt Glenn served in the South Pacific as a member
of the U. S. Army during World War II, and is retired from the U. S.
Postal Service; and
Whereas, their marriage that will reach the half-century mark on
September 28, 1997, and Mary and Ben Glenn are devoted to each
other, and have joyfully stood together as a model-married couple for
fifty years; and
Whereas, they are the proud parents of four children, Philip Dean
Glenn, Michael Hoyt Glenn, Carolyn Marie Glenn Payne, and Donna
Claire Glenn Tinsley; and eight grandchildren: Matthew Hoyt Glenn,
Phillip Chad Glenn, Michelle Marie Glenn Hudgins, Paula Marie
Glenn, Melanie Ann Glenn, Sarah Elizabeth Payne, Claire Llewellyn
Tinsley, and Mary Louise Tinsley; and
Whereas, we, the members of the House of Representatives, want the
Glenns to know that our thoughts are with them on this splendid
occasion and that we share in their joy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of
South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Hoyt Glenn of Richland County on the occasion of their Fiftieth
Wedding Anniversary, and to extend to them best wishes for many
more years of happiness together.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hoyt Glenn.
