A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR MR. SID GAULDEN FOR HIS YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AS A REPORTER FOR THE POST AND COURIER AND TO EXTEND TO HIM BEST WISHES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS.

Whereas, Sid Gaulden has announced his retirement from the Charleston Post and Courier where he has worked as a reporter for over 20 years; and

Whereas, he has covered the State House, government and politics for the Post and Courier for the last 14 years earning a reputation as a fine investigator, writer, and authority on the politics of the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. Gaulden has served as the chairman of the State House press corps for several years, representing the interests of the community of media who cover the legislature on a daily basis and enhancing their ability to keep the public informed of the business of the State; and

Whereas, his professional efforts have set a standard for fair and informative journalism, increased the public's awareness of the state's legislative activity and more fully involved the citizens of South Carolina in the legislative and political processes; and

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Members of the Senate of South Carolina hereby congratulate and honor their longtime friend and colleague, Mr. Sid Gaulden, for his tenure as a State House reporter, recognize his outstanding record of public service, peer leadership, and community involvement, and extend to him best wishes for his continued success and happiness.
