House Bill 3505 repeals PreviousArticleNext 37, Chapter 5, Title 56, South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976, relating to the inspection of vehicles.

If the vehicle inspection program is eliminated, cost savings to the Department of Public Safety is estimated at $1 million and 30.5 FTE positions which could be utilized in other programs within the Department of Public Safety.

This legislation would have no effect upon the cost of operations to the Department of Revenue.

Impact would result in the reduction to the general fund of approximately $1.5 million.

TO REPEAL PreviousARTICLENext 37, CHAPTER 5, TITLE 56, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE INSPECTION OF VEHICLES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. PreviousArticle 37, Chapter 5, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is repealed.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
