INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS A BOYS' BASKETBALL STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE GLENFOREST SCHOOL
"BULLDOGS" BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM OF
LEXINGTON COUNTY ON WINNING THE 1997-1998 SOUTH
CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC
ASSOCIATION CLASS A BOYS' BASKETBALL STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, Glenforest School is one of the leading independent schools
in the South for students with learning disabilities whose graduates
hold an outstanding record of eighty-seven percent acceptance to the
college or university of their choice; and
Whereas, the Glenforest School "Bulldogs" Boys'
Basketball Team of Lexington County captured the 1997-1998 South
Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class A Boys'
Basketball State Championship by defeating Wardlaw Academy of
Johnston, 49-45 in overtime; and
Whereas, the "Bulldogs" finished the season with the
State Championship and a record of 23-8; and
Whereas, Head Coach William Knopf exhibited tremendous
leadership and guidance throughout the season; and
Whereas, Butch Smith, who was severely burned last summer,
courageously scored nineteen points to lead all scorers; and
Whereas, the Glenforest School "Bulldogs" have brought
well-deserved recognition upon their school, county, and South
Carolina that will forever be reflected in our State and local history
books. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution,
publicly recognize and congratulate the Glenforest School
"Bulldogs" Boys' Basketball Team and Head Coach
William Knopf on winning the 1997-1998 South Carolina
Independent School Athletic Association Class A Boys' Basketball
State Championship.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to
Glenforest School Head, Dr. Glenda R. Sternberg, and Head
Basketball Coach, William Knopf .
