RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE TALLY AND FLORENCE ADAMS,
THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, OF EASTOVER
ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR SELECTION AS THE 1998
"OUTSTANDING NATIONAL BLACK FAMILY" ON
MARCH 5, 1998, AT THE 12TH ANNUAL NATIONAL BLACK
FAMILY SUMMIT IN MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned that
Tally and Florence Adams, their children and grandchildren, have
been selected as the "Outstanding National Black
Family" for 1998; and
Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams joyfully celebrated their fiftieth
wedding anniversary in February and have always believed in
dedication to family, hard work and education; and
Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams lovingly raised ten children and
then generously brought seven foster children to raise in their home
and now have twenty-seven grandchildren; and
Whereas, seven of their ten children earned degrees from the
University of South Carolina, two earned degrees from Midlands
Technical College and one earned a degree from Limestone College;
and
Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams raised their family to
"make no excuses" and to "never take 'no' for an
answer"; and
Whereas, the Adams children agree that their father's work ethic and
calm demeanor and their mother's warmth and persistence were traits
that allowed them to be successful. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution,
publicly congratulate the Adams family, their children and
grandchildren, on the occasion of their selection as the 1998
"Outstanding National Black Family" on March 5, 1998.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Tally and Florence Adams.
